Biphasic Defibrillation Technology

Biphasic defibrillation is a way to re-start the heart using less current, and thus more safely and with less damage to the heart muscle. Research has shown that if the polarity of the current is reversed in the middle of the defibrillation pulse, the heart can be re-started with less than half the electricity required for the old monophasic method. HeartStream's patented biphasic technology not only re-starts the patient's heart more safely and easily, but also, since it uses less current, allows the unit to operate with a smaller battery pack and is one of the reasons why our unit is so light and compact.
Section goes on to enumerate the benefits of biphasic technology and back them up with research results.
