I asked her to lunch, gve her a card with the address of one of my meditation sites, and she liked it so much that she eventually married me!

I wish! Search engines such as Yahoo, Lycos, WebCrawler, AltaVista, and InfoSeek are the way a lot of people go about looking for something on the Web. Someone using a search engine enters a keyword, and the search engine returns a list of sited that use the keyword - generally quite a lo.o.o.o.o.o.ng list!

In order for a search engine to find your site, you or we need to register the site with the search engine. This can be time-consuming, but if your business has a well-defined niche it can pay off many times over. For instance, most of the sales of my Chi Kung CD come from people who use search engines to find it on the Web. If on the other hand, you are just another business offering Web design services or pictures of naked ladies, the chances of you turning up high enough in the search engine order for someone to find you are very small.

The business of registering sites in such a way as to place the site high up in the search order is delicate and complex, involving the use of special keywords, description fields, and sometimes even rewriting the text of your front page to make more use of key terms.
